Police are still seeking leads in connection with a May 2 assault in the Keaau Shopping Center parking lot.

At about 12:15 p.m., officers responding to an assault report found an unresponsive man lying on the ground with an apparent head injury. Witnesses said an unidentified man was seen running to a silver import sedan, possibly a Nissan, and fled mauka on Keaau Village road.

The alleged assailant is described as local, fair to tanned complexion, in his early 20s, short spiked hair, dark eyes, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and possibly shorts.

Police released a composite drawing hoping someone will recognize the suspect. Anyone who has information or might know the identity of the suspect is asked to call the police nonemergency number at 935-3311 or contact Detective Todd Pataray at 961-2382 or todd.pataray@hawaiicounty.gov.

Those who prefer anonymity can call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
